FAQs

On May 23rd, 2010 two churches came together to form Hope Community Church. Leadership teams from both congregations met for several months to map out a plan for combining the two congregations. After several visitation meetings and combined events we finally merged as one church. Valley Community Church had been meeting together on the hill for over 45 years, and Agawam Church of the Bible had been meeting at the local junior high school for almost 20 years.
Our desire is to reach the community of Agawam/Feeding Hills with the message of hope that is found in Jesus Christ.
No, dress casual or dress formal, we don't care what you wear, we care that you're there!
Yes, we have a private parking lot for all church attendees on top of the hill.
Yes. There is an elevator entrance in the front and a ramp on the side of the building. We also have handicap accessible parking.
When you enter our front doors, you'll be greeted by a smiling face and probably be handed a Connections bulletin that provides you with some basic info about Hope. Feel free to ask any questions to our greeters. They're there to help make your visit with us easy and meaningful.
You are encouraged to keep your kids with you during the worship time. There is a nursery for children up to 3 years old located near the back entrance. During the message time, kids ages 3 through 2nd grade are invited to go to Kid's Time which takes place downstairs in our classrooms. They will be dismissed before the message and meet their leaders in the lobby. It's fun, and they will experience church at their level. You may join your child until you feel more comfortable leaving them with our trained Kid's Time Leaders.
Our worship time is decidedly contemporary. That term can mean different things to different people. Our Worship Team consists of guitars, bass, piano, drums, synth, and a contemporary worship choir.
We usually sing a couple of songs, share some announcements with everyone, pray, sing a few more songs, listen to a bible-based message from our pastor, and end with another song. On the first Sunday of each month we observe Jesus' death and resurrection through communion. On other Sundays we may have someone from our community share their testimony of how they came to know Jesus or how He is working in their life, or we may highlight one of the missionaries we support.
Yes, the first Sunday of each month we observe Jesus' death and resurrection through communion.
We have one morning service at 10am. The first Sunday of the summer months we have breakfast on the lawn open to everyone at 9am. We will resume 2 services at 8:30am and 11am on September 8th with coffee and fellowship between services at 10am.
We don't pass a basket for tithing/collecting donations. We believe that finances are important to the health of a church, but we never want money to be the focus of our gatherings. There is a box located in the lobby where regular attendees can place their monetary offerings.
